The plainclothes officers, part of the Homicide Task Force-Gang Unit, were shot Monday night while investigating at the Annie Coleman Apartments on the city’s north side. The detectives involved in the shooting were identified by police Tuesday as Terence White and Charles Woods.
One officer was shot in the leg and the other was hit in the arm, and authorities say at least one of the officers returned fire. Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said fellow officers used a pickup to bring their wounded colleagues to the hospital. Perez said they are listed in stable condition and expected to survive.
