Many Long Beach Republicans say the presumptive nominee of their party may not have been their first choice — but they are ready to rally around Donald Trump.
Hundreds of area Republicans came to El Dorado Park Golf Course on Thursday night, where the city’s GOP faithful gathered for its annual barbecue, a yearly meal made more meaningful by the prospect of Trump taking on the party’s long-standing Democratic foe, Hillary Clinton.
The featured speaker was Larry Elder, a veteran talk radio host who, before taking the microphone, summed up much of the Republican sentiment in saying that Trump wasn’t his first choice for the nomination, but he will vote for him.
