The face of Obama’s catastrophic foreign policy failure. Her blood is on his hands.

In a war were symbolism is paramount, this is a big one. Just as Kobani, once a little-known town, has become enormously important, if only because the whole world is watching.

The whole world was watching this fierce, brave and free female fighter, iconic of the struggle against Islamic misogyny, oppression, imperialism, and supremacism.

Rehana was part of an independent women’s battalion of the Peshmerga, or Kurdish militia, who are known for their fearlessness and effectiveness in war. The YPJ is an all-female, independent militia which at the frontline takes up arms alongside the males of the People’s Protection Units. She was under the command of the famed female soldier Mayssa Abdo, who herself has become famous for running the operation to keep the Syrian border town of Kobani out of the hands of the Islamic State. (thanks to DC Gazette)

The photo of beheaded female fighters that I ran back on October 9th appears to be Rehanna (though still unconfirmed).
