Iran insists that its Fordo site, an underground complex some 60 miles south of Tehran, is being used strictly for research and the production of medical isotopes. However, critics of the Iranian nuclear program maintain that recent reports – indicating that Iran has deployed an S-300 air defense system around the site – is further proof that Iran is secretly developing nuclear weapons.
