Montana Man Inspired By Same-Sex Marriage Ruling Requests Right To Wed Two Wives

Nathan Collier said he was inspired by the recent Supreme Court decision that made marriage equal. He said he was particularly struck by the words of dissenting Chief Justice John Roberts who claimed giving gay couples the right to marry, might inspire polygamy.

And so this week, Mr Collier and his two wives, Victoria and Christine, entered a courthouse in Billings, Montana, and sought an application to legalise the trio’s polygamous union.

“Right now we're waiting for an answer," Mr Collier told The Independent. “I have two wives because I love two women and I want my second wife to have the same legal rights and protection as my first.”

He added: "Most people are not us. I am not trying to define what marriage means for anybody else - I am trying to define what marriage means for us."

NHS Hospitals Pushing Young Medics To Brink Of 'Burnout' By Relying On Them To Work Extra Hours

Hospitals are pushing young medics to the brink of “burnout” by relying on them to work extra hours to plug long-term gaps in ward rotas, leading doctors have warned, after new research showed that the effects of NHS staff shortages are worsening.

Dr Mark Porter, chair of the British Medical Association (BMA), said the increasingly common practice of hospital departments requiring junior doctors to work overtime, or filling gaps with expensive agency staff, should be a “real concern to patients” – while the UK’s top emergency doctor cautioned that the NHS had now become used to working with a “skeleton staff” at A&E departments.

The warnings come in the light of a survey of 430 young doctors which suggests that rota gaps are now more commonplace than ever.

iOS 9: iPhone Will Now Track Sexual Activity

Apple's iPhone will now let people track exactly how often, when and how they have sex.

As part of new "reproductive health" tracking features, Apple has added an option for "Sexual Activity". When users click on it, they can enter information on whether protection was used as well as the date and time.

Like the rest of the health tracking features, users will then be able to see that data represented on a graph or in a numerical read-out. They can then share that information with other apps, and Apple stressed in its event that it will be kept private unless users opt to share it.

Unshackled From Coalition partners, Tories Get Ready To Push Radical Agenda

David Cameron will use the Conservative Party’s first majority in the House of Commons for nearly 20 years to “deliver” on a radical agenda to cut welfare, shrink the size of the state and re-define Britain’s relationship with Europe.

Conservative insiders said Mr Cameron would move to the right to consolidate support among his backbench MPs after five years of compromise with the Liberal Democrats.

Among Mr Cameron’s first legislative priorities will be to enshrine an EU referendum into law, bring in the so-called ‘snoopers charter’ to give police greater powers to monitor internet communications and give English MPs a veto over legislation only affecting England. The Tories also intend to publish plans to scrap the Human Rights Act within their first 100 days. All proposals had been previously blocked by the Lib Dems.

Downing Street announced the top four Tory jobs in Government will all remain unchanged. Theresa May, Philip Hammond and Michael Fallon will remain in post while George Osborne is re-appointed Chancellor.

Oscars 2015: Votes Are Actually Cast By Hollywood House Maids, Barry Norman Claims

It could explain why The Help received four Academy Award nominations; Oscar votes are often decided by Hollywood’s household maids, Barry Norman has claimed.

The veteran film reviewer told Radio Times: “There’s the question of whether all the voters actually saw all the films. It’s not unknown for some, especially the elderly, to get their maids to watch them on DVD and deliver their opinions.”

It is widely suspected that the 6,000-plus “motion picture professionals” who comprise the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences do not watch every film under consideration, as they are required to, before casting their vote.

Chris Martin once admitted that he filled in the form belonging to his then-wife, former Best Actress winner Gwyneth Paltrow. “I read the instructions, which is like you've got to put your top five in order,” he recalled. “I did get a say on that form. I got to put a vote in. I voted for Mickey Rourke.”
