When I heard that President Barack Obama was commuting the prison term of Private Manning, I couldn’t help but, once again, think of what happened to Julius and Ethel Rosenberg on June 19, 1953.

Were the Rosenberg’s guilty of murder? No, there was one charge, that they passed vital secrets to their political pals in the Soviet Union. No, I’m not directly comparing the crimes of the Rosenbergs to those of Private Manning, but they both involved exposing vital military information to the enemy.
