Telemundo Interviews Bush On Wide Range Of Topics

By Sergio Bustos, Aug 01, 2015 AP

MIAMI (AP) — In his first Spanish-language television network interview since launching his 2016 presidential campaign, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush fielded questions ranging from the upcoming presidential debate to Donald Trump, from Latin American foreign policy to his favorite music, and whether he had ever experienced discrimination.

Bush shared the experience his son George P. Bush, who is now 39, had when he and his Hispanic teammates traveled north to Ocala, Florida, to play in a baseball game.

"George, he's dark-skinned, and they spoke horrible things about those from Miami," Bush recalled, without offering details. "I had to explain ... that people who hate are not the majority, and we must accept them and move forward."

The interview with Telemundo's "Enfoque con Jose Diaz-Balart" ("In focus with Jose Diaz-Balart") airs Sunday at noon EDT. Telemundo provided a translated transcript of the interview to The Associated Press.

Bush, who is fluent in Spanish and speaks the language at home with his Mexican wife, Columba, has been busy this week courting minority voters.

Donald Trump Makes A Texas-size Splash With Visit To Mexican Border

By James Hohmann, July 23, 2015
Washington Post

LAREDO, Tex. — A defiant Donald Trump, visiting the U.S. border with Mexico here Thursday, said again that he will not apologize for his hard-line rhetoric on illegal immigration or back away from his plan to build a wall between the two nations.

During a whirlwind visit — it was less than three hours from when his jet touched down to when it took off — Trump blazed around in a presidential-style motorcade that included seven SUVs and even more police cars. Local officers blocked off roads, including Interstate 35, for Trump’s entourage.

The Republican presidential candidate, leading the GOP field in national polls but increasingly under fire from the establishment wing of his party, said repeatedly that he had been told he would be in “great danger” if he visited this town of 236,000 in southern Texas — even though Laredo, which is roughly 96 percent Hispanic, has a significantly lower murder rate than Trump’s home town of New York City. He would not say who had told him that he was at risk.

Trump Reportedly Tells Group US Should Have Invaded Mexico Instead Of Iraq

By Catherine Thompson, July 13, 2015 Talking Points Memo

Trump stumped through Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix over the weekend while railing against illegal immigration, which has become his fledgling presidential campaign's pet cause. Trump said in a news conference at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, where he was flanked by people who said undocumented immigrants had killed their family members, that the media had been "dishonest" in covering his remarks on the subject, including his assertion that immigrants crossing the border with Mexico were "rapists" and drug dealers.

The business guru made the comment about invading Mexico during a Friday night speech to the Friends of Abe, where conservative columnist Ann Coulter and actors Nick Searcy, Lou Ferrigno and Paul Sorvino and were allegedly in attendance, according to a report from alternative weekly newspaper LA Weekly.

An anonymous attendee told the newspaper that Trump said it was wrong for the U.S. to invade Iraq, as he believed a strong Iraq was necessary in order to keep a buffer with Iran.
