Kobe Bryant’s sneakers have barely dried from his final game in the N.B.A. earlier this month, and he’s already well on his way to his second act. The Lakers legend, who went pro straight out of high school and retired in April after dominating the league for 20 years, has his sights set on conquering Silicon Valley.
All this is according to billionaire investor and Shark Tank personality Chris Sacca, who shared a story on Bill Simmons’s podcast about advising Bryant on how to get into tech. Sacca, who had to study Bryant’s Wikipedia page to quickly learn more about him on the way to their first meeting at a bar in Laguna Beach, told him to study up, read some articles, watch some TED videos, and if he proved he was serious, he would talk to him about investing.
