Your recent editorial suggested that the Benghazi investigation should be halted because help couldn’t have arrived in time. However, that misses the point that no rescue attempt was even attempted. At the time, as the brave men in Benghazi were fighting for hours, nobody had the slightest idea how long the attack would last or whether a rescue attempt might succeed.

Benghazi was not secured before the attack despite many clear indications of the need to do so After the attack, Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice, and Barack Obama told the fairy tale about the video because one 2012 campaign theme had been that terrorism was “on the run.” Admitting Benghazi was a terrorist attack would have interfered with the campaign narrative.
