Long drove to the area specifically looking for law enforcement officers, officials said Monday. Long parked his car multiple times, once when he saw a parked police car and another time when he saw an officer at a gas station. Investigators are still reviewing 911 calls to determine whether the officers were lured to the location of the shooting.

Long first shot and killed a Baton Rouge police officer and wounded another. A sheriff's deputy came to the aid of the wounded officer, but Long continued his assault and killed the deputy then killed the officer.

Three officers are dead and three others are wounded after a shooting in Baton Rouge. Police-community relations in the city have been tense since the killing earlier this month of 37-year-old Alton Sterling, a black man shot by white officers after a scuffle at a convenience store. The killing was captured on cellphone video.
