Firefighters With Concealed Carry Permits Stop Would-Be Mass Shooting

By Awr Hawkins, May 8, 2015, Breitbart

On May 5, two firefighters with concealed carry permits stopped a man allegedly attempting to shoot kids and firemen at the fire station.

According to Fox Carolina, “Children and firefighters” were in the station parking lot when, at about 6:30 p.m. at New Holland, Wisconsin’s Fire Station 2, Chad Barker allegedly pulled up, got out of his car, and opened fire. He allegedly fired in the air and at his own vehicle and “pointed the firearm at individual firefighters for lengthy periods of time.”

Firefighter Gary Knoll said, “I came out of the office, saw the man with the gun, told everybody to leave out the back quickly, that there was a man in the parking lot with a gun, and I was not kidding.”

Knoll has his concealed permit, and he had a gun with him, as did another firefighter on the scene. Both approached Barker at gunpoint and talked him into dropping his weapon.

Ca Handgun Sales Skyrocket, Gun-Related Homicides Plummet

By Awr Hawkins, Mar. 4, 2015, Breitbart.com

Handgun sales in California broke a 21-year-old record in 2014, and at the same time, firearm-related murders fell to their lowest rate in over 20 years.

Moreover, accidental gun deaths decreased as well.

According to The Sacramento Bee, a record-breaking 510,000 handguns were sold in the state of California in 2014, easily breaking the previous record of 433,000 handguns sold in 1993. The rise in handgun sales reflects a national surge that was the result of “calls for more gun control in response to several mass shootings.”

The correlation between more guns and less crime was also seen nationally.

According to the FBI, violent crimes and property crimes fell in the first half of 2014 following a recording setting 21,093,273 background checks for firearm purchases in 2013.

On December 4, 2013, Breitbart News reported on a Congressional Research Service (CRS) study showing that an increasing rate of private gun ownership nationally, over a 15-year period, correlated with a sharply declining “firearm-related murder and non-negligent homicide” rate.

Liam Neeson: Paris Attack Shows Need For US Gun Control

By Awr Hawkins, Jan 12, 2015

Standing in front of a poster of himself holding a handgun in Taken 3, the latest installment in a film series that relies on gunplay to heighten action sequences, Liam Neeson spoke to the attacks on Charlie Hebdo by offering condolences, then saying: “There are too many [bleeping] guns out there, especially in America.”

He said the level of private gun ownership in the US is “a [bleeping] disgrace.”

According to Gulfnews.com, Neeson stuck with the American rant, saying: “I think the population is like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns, privately owned, in America. I think it’s a [bleeping] disgrace. Every week now we are picking up a newspaper and seeing, ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.'”

How Gun Control Made England 'Most Violent Country In Europe'

By Awr Hawkins, Sept. 24, 2014, Breitbart.com

Gun control in Britain passed in stages, beginning just after World War I and continuing in a reactionary fashion with increasing strictness through the 1990s.

When the final stage arrived in 1997, and virtually all handguns were banned via the Firearms Act, the promise was a reduction in crime and greater safety for the British people. But the result was the emergence of Britain as the "most violent country in Europe."

Britain began placing restrictions on gun ownership after World War I with the Firearms Act of 1920. The passage of this act was emotionally driven, based in part on the public's war-weariness and in part on the fear that an increased number of guns--guns from the battle field--would increase crime.

The Firearms Act of 1920 did not ban guns. Rather, it required that citizens who wanted a gun had to first obtain a certificate from the government. We see this same stage taking place in various places in the United States now, where a person who wants a firearm has to get a Fire Owner Identification Card (Illinois) or has to be vetted by police (Massachusetts) or both.
