Spielberg will present his case to peers at an upcoming annual board of governors meeting at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, where he will propose rule changes that would prevent streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon and Hulu from competing in the Oscars without its projects getting full theatrical runs first. So then some starving theater owner will run netflix films for a week to qualify, so then the academy will have a minimum number of screens requirement, and so all that will happen is that spielberg will have shut out any actual indy films from doing anything. Technology is changing - change or die. I already give exactly zero craps about the oscras, I am sure more will follow.
