Paramount Defends ‘mother!’ Against Bad Box Office and ‘F’ CinemaScore

By Indie Wire, Sep. 18, 2017

Paramount hasn’t exactly been having a year to brag about. Nearly every release from the studio has bombed at the box office, starting with “Monster Trucks” in January and continuing through “Ghost in the Shell,” “Baywatch,” and the franchise-low totals for “Transformers: The Last Knight.” We can now add Darren Aronofsky’s “mother!” to the list after it grossed only $7.5 million in over 2,000 theaters, making it the lowest nationwide opening ever for star Jennifer Lawrence. To make matters worse, the film became only the 12th title in history to earn an “F” CinemaScore from audiences, which doesn’t bode well for its total gross.

  1. Larry, I don't know why it has taken me this long to find this website. I am a big fan of yours and listened to you daily when I lived in Los Angeles. I had your radio show phone number on my speed dial and got through to your call screener often and even got on the air with you a few times. I am so thankful for a voice like yours that always brings balance and common sense to the subjects that so often are not treated that way by other commentators. I am a firm believer that so much of the criticism we hear these days is just a cheap way to be involved. unsubstantiated criticism is the cheapest form of commentary, everyone can do it and so many today are experts at it. People like yourself are a very large part of the solution our country needs so desperately. when I see the polarization of politics in our country I feel very strongly that one side is right and one is wrong and I pray for our side to not be weary in well doing. I know that for some and maybe a lot there needs to be compromise but on so many things we need people like you to be willing to stick their necks out and speak the truth. God Bless You Larry Elder
