GOP's 'Obamacare' repeal all but dead; McCain deals the blow

By Yahoo, Sep. 22, 2017

TRENTON — Alec Baldwin, President Trump’s chief tormentor on Saturday Night Live, will headline a fund-raising event in South Jersey next month for a super PAC tied to hospital and insurance executive George E. Norcross III.

Guests will pay $2,500 each to attend the fund-raiser June 1 at the Collingswood Grand Ballroom for General Majority PAC, according to a copy of the invitation.

  1. Shockingly for once I agree with the Manchurian Candidate John McCain.
    Below are my reasons why:
Senator Rand Paul is absolutely correct. Not only is the Graham-Cassidy Health Care bill a complete violation of the U.S. Constitution, but it has a great many other staggering problems and issues as explained below:
-- "ALERT: The Truth about the Graham-Cassidy (GC) Senate Bill
    1. It does NOT repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
    2. It does NOT repeal the individual and employer mandates; it only zeroes out the penalty dollars, leaving it possible for later Congresses to increase. (GC Section by Section)
    3. Maintains dependence on ACA's federal and state exchanges.
    4. The federal government is still in charge (unless states reassert 10th Amendment authority, which they can do without federal permission).
    5. ACA insurance regulations remain nationalized and under federal control.
    6. Sets up three state-based funds using federal dollars collected under the ACA ($35B for insurers; $1.176T in stability funds to states for 2020 - 2026; $11B contingency fund for certain states.
    7. Unelected federal bureaucrats determine funding formulas.
    8. Unless prohibited, federal funds could “turbocharge" single-payer in states.
    9. Only smallest of ACA 19 taxes are repealed (restrictions on use of HSA/FSA, the increased penalties on non-health care uses of HSA dollars, the Medical device taxes, and the elimination of deduction for employers who receive a subsidy from Medicare for offering retiree prescription drug coverage).
    10. ACA “qualified health plans” would be prohibited from offering abortion other than in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother.
    11. Allows all individuals to buy Obamacare catastrophic plans beginning January 1, 2019.
    12. The September 30 “deadline” for repeal is “fake news,” says Chris Jacobs."
    ........................................................................................
To be clear, the Graham-Cassidy bill does not repeal the Affordable Care Act, or its exchanges or the Obamacare coverage. Senator Rand Paul says it only repeals 90% of ACA spending. He calls it “ObamacareLite at its worst." Says it just redistributes the ACA dollars from Democrat states to Republican states (more money to states that didn’t expand Medicaid). It does not repeal Obamacare. The Graham-Cassidy bill is not a fulfillment of the Republican promise to repeal Obamacare.

Let Congress and the U.S. Senate know that you know it’s NOT A REPEAL…and that you know the redistribution of your wages and premium dollars will continue under the ACA if it passes. Capitol Hill Switchboard: #202-224-3121
