The O'Reilly Factor 1996-2017

By Town Hall, April 20, 2017

The death of the dominant TV show in the history of Fox News leaves an immediate void. It will be particularly tragic if its death was a suicide.

It is already popular to presume that where there is smoke, there’s fire, and thus Bill O’Reilly must be guilty of various claims of sexual harassment and therefore fully deserves his dismissal. I cannot conclude that.

  1. Mr. Elder,
Concerning your statement above "It is already popular to presume that where there is smoke, there’s fire, and thus Bill O’Reilly must be guilty of various claims of sexual harassment and therefore fully deserves his dismissal. I cannot conclude that", I can appreciate you willingness to stand by someone you have confidence in as a friend or trusted colleague. But as a member of the political pundit community, it am disappointed in your official position. Political pundits jump all over reasonably perceived valid claims of impropriety all the time, like I am sure that you have in the past. Why is it so difficult for political pundits to call their own out, whether they be on the left or the right? I understand that O'Reilly has not been tried in a court of law, but dude.... when you start paying MULTIPLE claims out, the handwriting is on the wall. Why not just stay silent if you are unwilling to call out a friend? Why not just let the process play out? Why make a statement that you don't believe the numerous claims? This is why Americans are less willing to listen to pundits anymore; heavy on anecdotes and diatribe when it's the other guy...circle the wagons when it's your own. Thanks for reading.

    1. Larry just posted the Townhall article. It wasn't written by him. It was written by Mark Davis. Check the article out again.

  2. I can't bring myself to believe these accusations. I have been a huge fan since 2007. With all of his regular female guests that he had, it would seem likely that one of then would have already spoken against Bill.
