In the last two weeks, the font of digital secrets has doxed millions of Turkish women, leaked Democratic National Committee emails that made Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign look bad but also suggested the site was colluding with the Russian government, and fired off some seriously anti-Semitic tweets.

It’s…weird.

WikiLeaks is always going to be releasing information some people don’t like. That is the point of them. But lately the timing of and tone surrounding their leaks have felt a little off, and in cases like the DNC leak, more than a little biased. At times, they haven’t looked so much like a group speaking truth to power as an alt-right subreddit, right down to their defense of Milo Yiannopoulos, a (let’s be honest, kind of trollish) writer at Breitbart. But the way WikiLeaks behaves on the Internet means a lot more than some basement-dwelling MRA activist. “WikiLeaks’ initial self-presentation was as merely a conduit, simply neutral, like any...

Former CIA Director Leon Panetta was giving a speech in support of Hillary Clinton and her ability to take on terrorists when the crowd erupted into chants of “no more war" and “lies” at the Democratic National Convention. They interrupted Panetta several times before he ended his speech. Others responded to the chants by shouting "USA, USA, USA!" FedNet

Former NSA agent and whistleblower Edward Snowden has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the Democratic National Committee (DNC) email leaks. He said if Russia was behind DNC hack then the NSA would trace it, as the security agency had the necessary know-how. His comments come amid the uncertainty about the link between the DNC hack and the following email leaks by WikiLeaks. Top security experts maintained that Russian hacker groups had a hand in the leaks, even as Kremlin officials categorically denied any involvement.

If Hillary Clinton is elected president she will eagerly bypass Congress if they don't pass legislation she wants and enact them via executive orders.

Hey! Who is making such a horrible slam against Hillary as power hungry to the extent of ignoring Congress? Is this just another wild charge from Donald Trump? Nope! The source of  this power abuse charge is none other than the leftwing Vox which recently featured a Hillary love fest disguised as an interview conducted by their editor-in-chief, Ezra Klein. The premature revelation of Hillary truths were made by Dara Lind who might soon find herself explaining that she didn't really mean what she wrote. And her Hillary executive power revelations come in an article appropriately subtitled, Clinton would be the first president to embrace the executive powers her predecessors built.

And I think that, so many times, white, non-college-educated white males have voted Republican. They voted against their own economic interests because of guns, because of gays, and because of God, the three G’s, God being the woman’s right to choose. -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to Judy Woodruff in an interview Wednesday

What Nancy Pelosi said isn't necessarily a new idea: The theory that white, working-class men vote Republican because of social issues and — from Democrats' perspective — to the detriment of their economic interests.

Nancy Pelosi, in short: Why don’t these bigoted, ignorant, and violent white males realize we love them more? PBS commentator Judy Woodruff asked the House Minority Leader on Tuesday night to explain why Donald Trump has a large lead among white males, and especially white males without a college degree. Pelosi responded that, in essence, this bloc votes against its economic interests because of the “three Gs” — guns, gays, and abortion, which she assigns to “God” without a hint of irony over her professed Catholic faith (via Leah Barkoukis and Vayapaso):

Key restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program imposed under an internationally negotiated deal will start to ease years before the 15-year accord expires, advancing Tehran’s ability to build a bomb even before the end of the pact, according to a document obtained Monday by The Associated Press…. But while formally separate from the bigger nuclear accord, {a diplomat} said that it was in effect an integral part of that pact and had been approved by the U.S., Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, the six powers that negotiated the deal with Tehran. Details published earlier outline most restraints on Iran’s nuclear program meant to reduce the threat that Tehran will turn nuclear activities it says are peaceful to making weapons…. And that time frame could shrink even more. While the document doesn’t say what happens with centrifuge numbers and types past year 13, U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz told The AP that Iran will be free to install any number of advanced centrifuges beyond that point…. That will give Iran a huge potential boost in enrichment capacity, including bomb-making should it choose to do so….

Jonathan Tobin wrote about the revelations here at COMMENTARY at the time. Many of the groups whose funding depends on their support of the deal, however, remained silent. The State Department, meanwhile, sought to downplay the secrecy of the side deal or even the suggestion that the document leaked reflected a side deal. In a tortured exchange, State Department spokesman Mark Toner saidthere was not secret deal; rather, what was exposed was merely Iran’s “R&D [Research and Development] plan.”

Her words conjured up other thoughts as well.

Battlefield warriors, both past and present, sometimes are uniquely blessed—serving under leaders they proudly would follow “to Hell and back.”

To get there, and return, is, perhaps, the warrior’s ultimate “high.”

History tells us of troops, vastly outnumbered, marching into Hell, some returning; some not. General George Custer exemplified the latter—losing every member of his command in the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn; Marine Colonel “Chesty” Puller exemplified the former in the 1950 Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean war.

In such cases, success turns on the influence a leader, whether present on that battlefield or not, exerts.

U.S. health officials said Friday that four cases of Zika virus were transmitted locally by mosquitoes in Miami, the first evidence of the virus spreading that way in the continental U.S.

Previous cases have been caused by travel to affected areas or sexual contact with an infected person, and the report from Florida suggests that outbreaks of the virus could become common in some parts of the country, rather than just being imported from abroad.

What a shock. Judicial Watch discovered that top IRS officials, including Lois Lerner and Holly Paz, knew that the agency targeted conservative groups before they told Congress. Judicial Watch reported:

The FBI documents also reveal that IRS officials stated that the agency was targeting conservative groups because of their ideology and political affiliation in the summer of 2011. According to one senior tax law specialist, “The case seemed to be pulled because of the applicant’s political affiliation and screening is not supposed to occur that way … [Redacted] said he thought the cases were being pulled based upon political affiliations.” And IRS senior official Nancy Marks, appointed by [then-acting Commissioner Steven] Miller to conduct an internal investigation stated, “Cincinnati was categorizing cases based on name and ideology, not just activity.”

A San Diego Police Department officer has died and another officer remains hospitalized after a late-night shooting during a traffic stop just south of downtown San Diego. Both officers are part of the force's Elite Gang Unit.

On Friday evening, SDPD Chief Shelley Zimmerman named Jesse Michael Gomez, 52, as the suspect linked to the shooting. Gomez is in police custody. The chief identified Marcus Antonio Cassani as a "possible" suspect in the case, though police have yet to confirm if Cassani had any involvement in the shooting.

The FBI warned the Clinton campaign that it was a target of a cyberattack last March, just weeks before the Democratic National Committee discovered it had been penetrated by hackers it now believes were working for Russian intelligence, two sources who have been briefed on the matter told Yahoo News.

In a meeting with senior officials at the campaign’s Brooklyn headquarters, FBI agents laid out concerns that cyberhackers had used so-called spear-phishing emails as part of an attempt to penetrate the campaign’s computers, the sources said. One of the sources said agents conducting a national security investigation asked the Clinton campaign to turn over internal computer logs as well as the personal email addresses of senior campaign officials. But the campaign, through its lawyers, declined to provide the data, deciding that the FBI’s request for sensitive personal and campaign information data was too broad and intrusive, the source said.
