DENVER (CBS4) – Peyton Manning is headed to the Super Bowl, and so are his Denver Broncos.
Manning, 39, became the oldest quarterback to take his team to a Super Bowl, a mark previously held by John Elway.
“It’s a tremendous honor,” Manning said. “It’s been a special four years playing in Denver for these great fans and for this great organization. To be going to our second Super Bowl in four years is very special and just an awesome effort by our entire effort.”
Thanks to a ferocious defense that befuddled Tom Brady all day, the Broncos held on for 20-18 win over the New England Patriots and will play the NFC champion Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl on Feb.7 in Santa Clara, California.
