Here's What The Academy May Do About The #OscarsSoWhite Boycott

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will weigh new rules intended to encourage more diversity among its membership and its nominations, The Times has learned.

The academy's 51-member Board of Governors has added the diversity issue to the agenda for its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night in response to an outcry over an all-white slate of acting nominees for the second year in a row, according to a person briefed on the matter.

  1. We all have different opinions on which movies we like. I did not like Straight Outta Compton, did not think it should be nominated for anything. The entertainment business in general, and the movie industry in particular are the most accepting of talent of every race or gender. Are the award shows now going to be called racist if they don't have the "correct" number of awards by race, religion, gender and nationality??
    "Which is worse? Hyper-sensitivity to perceived racism or the certainty of tokenism? If you rank your 'isms' where does tokenism fall? The Oscars 2016 has a brilliant host, producer and President. All of whom are black. But the nominees and winners were picked not for the color of their skin, but for their ability to perform out of it."
    "And that's just the way it's supposed to be".
