Sean Penn and a Mexican actress went to "interview" El Chapo, the fugitive drug lord. And now Mexican authorities want to speak to Sean Penn.
Really?!?
How embarrassing is this for the intelligence apparatus of both Mexico and the DEA in America that a liberal mouthpiece like Penn can hop a flight to Mexico and go see the most wanted man in the world. How many thousands died at the hands of this thug and his henchmen over the decades? Not to mention the millions around the world getting hooked on all sorts of stuff he peddled?
By the way, is this drug enforcement by the US making any progress at all? Or are we seeing a never ending "revolving door" of "cutting off one head and 5 others take its place" kinda thing.
I think it is the latter. As long as there is demand at the scale we see in the US the drug trade will continue. The suppliers will always be there, whether from Mexico or any other country. This is apparently Penn's position, as well. But semi-praising and romanticizing a fugitive thug who murdered his way to the top goes beyond merely opposing the war on drugs. Even if Penn believes drug should be illegal, what's his position on murder?
Maybe this idiot Penn should room with El Chapo in the maximum prison in Colorado for a few decades to really get to know his "subject matter"--and feed them Chipotle food 5 times a day.
Who knows, maybe Penn and his lawyers will spin the story that he actually helped capture El Chapo--and Hollywood will give Penn a humanitarian award.
If so, good luck that. For Penn will forever have to look over his shoulder for one of Chapo's men, not so amused that he ratted out their boss.
