Not Bad For An Anti-– Capitalist

Michael Moore Says Multi-million Dollar Home For Sale Is Not His Vacation Home

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Michael Moore's former Torch Lake home, which is now for sale, was once the target of some who said it outed the filmmaker as a wealthy 1-percenter.

In 2011, in response to the other media reports, Moore told The Flint Journal that the home, listed last month for $5.2 million, was not a vacation home. He said people "on the right" are upset because he advocates for raising taxes on the rich.

"I think that the income disparity in our society is not healthy in a democracy. And I speak against interests of the rich...

"I suppose that when I ended up doing well, I should have just shut up and enjoyed the good graces that came my way, but I didn't do that ...

"I do not own a vacation home anywhere. I live in northern Michigan, but I don't have a vacation home, unless you're saying anyone who lives up north is on permanent vacation."

Check out all of what Moore had to say in this 2011 Q&A, which covered the Occupy movement, emergency managers and the Torch Lake property, now owned by his ex-wife Kathleen Glynn.
