I hear you plan to go on a fact-finding tour of Israel. In fact, Israel is doing pretty well. It’s, Somalia, your native country, that could truly use your formidable skills. Maybe you could use your frequent flyer miles and swing by.

Whew! Now that the #MuellerReport found no collusion, the democrats/media can get back to basics: calling @realDonaldTrump racist/fascist/sexist/xenophobic/antisemitic/homophobic/anti-Hispanic...

I have many elderly relatives living in the South... They were raised Democrat but in the 60's/70's they decided to change parties for the following reasons...1 They were embarrassed by the coverage of Southern Governors being so racist. (Their words, not mine). 2. Being church going Christians they despised the push to remove God, religion and prayer from public schools by liberals/Democrats. 3. The push for on demand abortion by liberals/Democrats. 4. Liberals/Democrats pushing Unions and Communism. Many liberals from the North promoting Unions literally carried signs promoting Communism. I've questioned them for years trying to get to the bottom of this myth of Suddenly the Southern Democrats joining the Republican party and becoming the racist party over night. I've come to the conclusion it's 100% BS, Democrat propaganda.
ReplyDeleteThe irony of Democrats accusing Republicans of the "Southern Strategy" is that it forces them to acknowledge that racists voted Democrat because of Democratic racist policies, and racists refused to vote Republican because of Republican Civil Rights Policies. If Republicans were the party of Slavery, Jim Crow, and the KKK, then there would be no need for a "Strategy" to attract racist votes.
ReplyDeletePolitics is ugly, anyone unaware of this is particularly naive. Occasionally, moral high ground is compromised to accomplish a more ambitious goal. This is the nature of democracy that all political parties are guilty of. Sometimes it may necessitate aligning with a morally ambiguous figure like Lee Atwater. It would be a mistake for a conservative to refuse to acknowledge this underbelly of our history, and it would jeopardize credibility to deny it outright. In an America where Democratic policies upheld slavery, instituted Jim Crow, founded the KKK, dispraportionately incentivized black women to become government dependent, encouraged black fathers to abandon their children, and disproportionally abort black babies; Barry Goldwater's "State's Right's" ideology is a tolerable blemish on the record of The Party of Lincoln.
